May 24, 31 + June 7: Colourful Clothed Bodies, 3-Day Workshop, 11am-4pm at Flaming Otter Ceramics
Open to any experience level, even beginners!
In this 3-day workshop Jai Sallay-Carrington will be leading participants through building their own clothed human torso with an animal head using the slab-building technique. Participants will build heir own figures, focusing on body proportions in expressive positions as well as sculpting and painting funky clothing.

May 10: 2-Part Plaster Mould Workshop, 11am-5pm, Flaming Otter Ceramics
In this workshop Jai will lead participants through making their own 2-part plaster mold from a simply shaped object that each participant brings from home. Once a plaster mold is made, the participants will have the ability to reproduce these items by using the slip-casting or press-mold techniques. Jai uses plaster molds in their work to create sculptural mug handles and other repeated forms in their sculptures.

April 11+12: Animal Heads, 2-Day Workshop, pay-what-you-can,
11am-2pm at SUM Gallery, during Kinship exhibition
Open to any skill level, great class for beginners!

In this workshop Jai will lead participants through sculpting your own animal head from a pinch pot about 4” tall. Jai will show everyone how to achieve the facial details such as eyes, noses and expressive mouths, textures such as fur/feather/scale, and how to add features such as horns and ears.

May 23+30 + flex June day: Animal Teapots, 3-Day Workshop, 11am-4pm at ChuChu Ceramics Studio
Located at ChuChu Ceramics, this workshop will lead participants through making their own functional animal teapot. Built using the technique of building from solid to hollow, Jai will demonstrate how to sculpt using this technique, and how to turn your animal form into a functional teapot.

(sold out) April 8: Pay-What-You-Can Animal Figures Workshop, 6-9pm at Flaming Otter Ceramics
In this workshop Jai will lead participants through sculpting your own little animal figure, either from a pinch pot or as a solid form, about 4” tall. Jai will show everyone how to achieve a proportionate bodies and textures such as fur/feather/scale. We will paint underglaze onto the animals for colour.
