Mosaic event: Nov 15, at Sunset Ceramics, 12-4pm (1469 Venables St)

CA$0.00

You are invited to take part in the creation of an art exhibition which celebrates queer and trans communities and the activists who paved the way for us today.

Everyone is welcome to participate! allies included :)

Location:

Sunset Ceramics Studio. 1469 Venables St, Vancouver, BC (@sunsetceramicsstudio)

Jai Sallay-Carrington is working on their next sculptural installation, which will take place June 2027 at SUM Gallery in “Vancouver” BC. Part of this install is a mosaic made by members of the queer, trans and allied community. This is to demonstrate the strength and support of our 2SLGBTQ+ community.

The event is Saturday Nov. 15th, from noon-4pm, at Sunset Ceramics Studio. There will be a short presentation about the project at 1pm, then the rest of the time we will spend painting the clay tiles, making new friends, sharing stories, and eating snacks. All materials are provided, you will lean how to paint underglaze onto clay tiles, and be a part of the making of a large-scale art exhibition happening here in Vancouver!

This is a family friendly event, all ages are welcome (kids must be accompanies by adults).

Sunset Studio Bio: We are a BIPOC and Queer run pottery studio in East Van. We provide a calm and welcoming studio for up to 14 members and run classes once per week. Our space centres queer and BIPOC participants, as well as providing what accommodations we are able to for various disabilities, neurodivergence and health needs (unfortunately we are not wheelchair accessible due to the stairs in the building). We look forward to expanding our community!
